McGruff Crime Prevention Messages for Children -- Internet Safety

The Internet is an exciting, educational tool for kids but it also has many potential dangers. Children are falling victim to child predators they met online, harrassed online by classmates, or exposed to inappropriate material through e-mail and websites. In an effort to prevent further child victimization, the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) has developed a new Internet Safety PSA campaign to educate kids about safety strategies when they are online.

The NCPC effort utilizes one of the oldest and most respected icons in America: McGruff the Crime Dog®. McGruff encourages children to make smart online choices so they can enjoy the privelges of the Internet and avoid the pitfalls. Each print ad features helpful tips from not agreeing to meet someone you met online without talking to your parents about how to report inappropriate material.Look for radio PSAs coming your way this summer that help parents with this difficult and ever-changing medium.
